What 50 Analyst Research Appearances Reveal About XMPro
From digital twins to Agentic Operations, the pattern tells a bigger story than the number.
Since January 2024, Gartner and LNS Research have published research naming XMPro fifty times. The number is notable. The progression behind it matters more: an evolution from digital twins that represent operations, to governed AI agents that reason, coordinate, and act on them.
Every appearance is documented on our industry recognition page, filterable by year, firm, and domain. In our view, the pattern across the fifty appearances points to a broader shift in how industrial operations will be run.
2024: Establishing the digital-twin foundation
Coverage through 2024 sat firmly in the digital twin category. XMPro appeared in Gartner's Emerging Tech Impact Radar for Edge Artificial Intelligence 2024 (18 January), the Emerging Tech Impact Radar: 2024 (17 April), the Emerging Tech: Digital Twin Solutions Benefit From a Managed Tech Ecosystem note (9 May), and the Quick Answer on digital twins and GenAI models (27 May).
In our view, coverage in that year positioned XMPro's platform as the industrial-grade digital-twin substrate for the intelligence layer that would arrive next.
By late 2024, simulation twins had emerged as a distinct Gartner category (Emerging Tech: Adoption Trends in Simulation Twins, 28 November), and the first agentic AI mention of XMPro landed in December's Emerging Tech Impact Radar: Conversational Artificial Intelligence.
2025: Agentic AI moves into industrial operations
2025 was the year the agentic AI category formalised, and XMPro's recognitions moved with it.
Gartner's Emerging Tech Impact Radar: 2025 (23 January) formalised Agentic AI as a technology profile. By April, XMPro was named as a Specialist Vendor for Agentic AI in Best Practices Preparing for Agentic and AI Agent Services Opportunities (Cathy Tornbohm, 15 April 2025). In June, XMPro was named as a Sample Vendor for Agentic AI in Emerging Tech: Customer Trust Is a Critical Barrier to Agentic AI Adoption (Casey, Ramirez IV, Verma, Singh, Bansal, 2 June 2025).
The 2025 Hype Cycle season began in July: Hype Cycle for Generative AI, 2025, Hype Cycle for Application Architecture and Integration, 2025, and Hype Cycle for AI and Cybersecurity, 2025 each named XMPro as a Sample Vendor for Agentic AI.
September brought two of the year's specific distinctions. XMPro was named as one of five Technology Innovators in Agentic AI globally in Emerging Tech: Tech Innovators in Agentic AI (Casey, Ramirez IV, Verma, Bansal, Singh, 16 September 2025), and named for Level 3 Advanced AI Agents in the Emerging Tech: Agentic AI Maturity Roadmap (Casey, Goodness, Brocklehurst et al., 8 August 2025).
An Australian water utility running XMPro appeared as a case study in Gartner's Emerging Tech: Where Generative AI Works, Will Soon Work, and May Never Work research (Casey, 16 September 2025). It was the first agentic-AI case study drawn from an XMPro deployment to land in Gartner research.
2026: Governance, orchestration, and industrial execution
2026 shifted the story from "does agentic AI work" to "what does it need to run in production." The categories fragmented. The vertical Hype Cycles arrived. Orchestration and management platforms became named categories in their own right.
The year opened with Gartner's Emerging Tech Impact Radar: Agentic AI (27 January 2026), where XMPro was named as a Sample Vendor across three technology profiles simultaneously: Composite AI, Multi-Agent Generative Systems, and Expert AI Agents. In our interpretation, those three profiles align with the platform, reasoning, and domain-specialisation layers of XMPro's architecture.
March brought two research notes on the production-readiness question. Beyond Agent Sprawl: The Rise of AI Agent Management Platforms (Verma, 6 March 2026) named XMPro for Agent Management Platforms. Emerging Tech: AI Vendor Race — Agentic AI Adoption Will Fail Due to Solution Misapplication (Casey, Brocklehurst, 6 March 2026) named XMPro as a Sample Vendor for use-case-aligned agent offerings.
LNS Research also named XMPro as a Key Vendor for Agentic Operations in its Industrial AI Market Landscape (March 2026). This is a landscape-level recognition from an analyst firm focused on industrial operations, and the first non-Gartner analyst recognition in the record.
The vertical Hype Cycles arrived in June and July, covering the industrial and enterprise categories XMPro's platform is built for: AI in Oil and Gas, 2026 (Multiagent Systems), AI in Manufacturing, 2026 (Agentic AI), IT Operations, 2026 (Agent Orchestration), AI in IT Operations, 2026 (Agent Orchestration), and Discrete Manufacturing Technologies, 2026 (Digital Twins for Products). The dedicated horizontals (Hype Cycle for Agentic AI, 2026 on 2 April and Hype Cycle for Agentic Automation, 2026 on 7 July) both named XMPro in two categories simultaneously: Agent Orchestration and Agentic AI.
In our view, the 2026 pattern is clear. The agentic AI category has fragmented into orchestration, management, multi-agent systems, expert agents, and composite AI. XMPro is named across all of it.
Five milestones that best illustrate the progression
Five specific milestones stand out along the arc from digital twins to Agentic Operations:
- One of five Technology Innovators in Agentic AI globally. Gartner Emerging Tech: Tech Innovators in Agentic AI, 16 September 2025.
- Named across three simultaneous technology profiles (Composite AI, Multi-Agent Generative Systems, and Expert AI Agents). Gartner Emerging Tech Impact Radar: Agentic AI, 27 January 2026.
- Dual-category inclusion in Agent Orchestration and Agentic AI. Gartner Hype Cycle for Agentic AI, 2026 and Hype Cycle for Agentic Automation, 2026.
- Key Vendor for Agentic Operations. LNS Research Industrial AI Market Landscape, March 2026.
- Multiagent Systems in Oil and Gas, Agentic AI in Manufacturing. Gartner Hype Cycle for AI in Oil and Gas, 2026 and Hype Cycle for AI in Manufacturing, 2026. These are the two industrial verticals most core to XMPro's actual buying audience.
What this means for industrial organisations
In our view, the progression from digital twins in 2024 to Agentic Operations in 2026 reflects a broader shift in industrial AI. Analytical models remain essential, but production environments also need a governed decision layer that can reason, coordinate, and act within defined boundaries.
This direction builds on more than a decade of XMPro's work in operational intelligence, digital twins, and decision support. Today, the Agentic Operations Platform combines operational context, real-time integration, multiagent reasoning, orchestration, and governed execution. These capabilities correspond to several of the technology areas in which XMPro has been named.
In our opinion, the record maps the architectural layers a production-ready agentic AI platform needs to cover. Together, these areas provide a useful set of questions for industrial organisations evaluating whether a platform is ready for production.
