XMPro was founded in late 2009, focused on Business Process Management for structured and unstructured processes and human-to-human workflows.
ABOUT XMPRO
Built for industrial intelligence at speed and scale.
XMPro is the Agentic Operations Platform for industrial enterprises.
We empower industrial teams to compose and scale agentic operations on real-time data — with multi-agent systems, governed execution and decisions you can audit. Without code or chaos.
One platform from monitoring to autonomous operations.
The XMPro Agentic Operations Platform is the industrial intelligence infrastructure that gives MAGS agents the operational context, institutional knowledge and governed execution surface they need to run industrial operations autonomously.
It gives every enterprise the path to get there from wherever they are today — without changing tooling, ripping out systems or trading explainability for autonomy.
From BPM to Agentic Operations.
Founded in 2009, XMPro has a proven track record of helping organisations in asset-intensive industries improve operational excellence, reduce risk and increase asset utilisation. Our initial focus was intelligent business process management for industry — recognised by Gartner with a Cool Vendor award in 2012.
In 2015 we released our Data Stream Designer, extending those BPM capabilities to help industrial companies rapidly gain insight from the massive amount of data flowing from Industrial IoT. The same year, we joined progressive companies from around the world as a member of the Industrial Internet Consortium.
In the years following, we built out a comprehensive Event Intelligence Platform to help customers find and exploit critical operational events in real time — and then layered intelligent decision support, autonomous agents and governed execution on top.
XMPro has successfully deployed solutions across North America, the UK & Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Africa.
A BRIEF HISTORY
From BPM in 2009 to agentic AI category leader in 2026.
Seventeen years of compounding focus on industrial operations — and 34 analyst recognitions across Gartner and LNS Research in the last 24 months alone.
We realised that in many scenarios the next step in a business process wasn’t always clear. Knowledge workers needed decision support and best-next-action recommendations — the seed of what would become decision-driven operations.
Gartner recognised our innovative approach to unstructured workflows with a Cool Vendor award.
We gained two Fortune 10 customers — one an Oil & Gas Super Major — who needed workflows triggered by real-time equipment data, not by people. Traditional BPM architectures couldn’t handle the volume and velocity of streaming IoT data, so we started designing an event-driven foundation.
We released the XMPro Data Stream Designer — a visual interface for streaming data workflows with a pluggable connector library for industrial OT systems and business systems like ERP and EAM. We also joined the Industrial Internet Consortium.
We narrowed our focus to industrial customers, where our team’s engineering expertise could solve high-impact operational problems with real-time Operations Intelligence.
We launched the XMPro App Designer, a no-code platform for building three kinds of operational apps: Eventboards (real-time dashboards), Data Apps (form-based interactions with operational systems) and Workflow Apps for new business processes built on event intelligence.
We introduced XMPro Recommendations — rules-based alerts paired with recommended actions sourced from captured expert knowledge. Operators could verify recommendations were acted on and that those actions were effective.
We started embedding AI bots to analyse recommendations and propose best next actions, and added support for real-time game-engine visualisations for digital twins.
XMPro’s CEO, Pieter van Schalkwyk, published his first book on building industrial digital twins. XMPro was named a Sample Vendor for Digital Twins in multiple Gartner reports.
We became the Regional Branch Organiser for the Digital Twin Consortium across Australia and New Zealand, and held our first in-person event in Perth. We also forged strong partnerships with WEIR Minerals, Bosch and Dell.
We integrated AI deeply across our Intelligent Digital Twin Suite, and Gartner named XMPro a Technology Innovator for Digital Twins in its Emerging Tech report for IT Providers.
- Embedded AI brought real-time analytics and AI-driven processes to operational digital twins.
- Innovation AI via XMPro Notebooks enabled real-time simulation and collaborative decision-making.
- Augmented AI combined real-time data with generative AI for actionable, explainable decision support.
We launched XMPro APEX AI, a Multi-Agent Generative System (MAGS) that provides a low-code control room for creating and managing autonomous, goal-driven agent teams that continuously optimise industrial processes.
Alongside MAGS, we introduced XMPro Assistant AI, a generative AI co-pilot that delivers real-time, context-aware recommendations for process optimisation, maintenance planning and production efficiency.
The year XMPro moved from digital-twin sample vendor to one of the most frequently cited names in industrial agentic AI. Across 19 Gartner reports in calendar 2025, XMPro was named a Specialist Vendor (April, Best Practices Preparing for Agentic and AI Agent Services), a Tech Innovator in Agentic AI (September), and placed at Level 3 Advanced AI Agents on the inaugural Agentic AI Maturity Roadmap.
Sample-vendor citations spanned the Hype Cycles for Generative AI, AI & Cybersecurity, Application Architecture & Integration and Discrete Manufacturing Technologies, plus Emerging-Tech briefings on Customer Trust, Provider Strategy, Maximize Opportunities While Managing Risks, Far Horizon Disruptive Technologies and AI in Healthcare — alongside a case-study citation in Where Generative AI Works, Will Soon Work, May Never Work.
Industrial agentic AI moved from emerging tech to a category Gartner now writes about by name. XMPro has been named a Sample Vendor across 6 Gartner reports so far in 2026 — 9 category placements in total — spanning Agent Orchestration, Agentic AI, Expert AI Agents, Agent Management Platforms and use-case-aligned agent offerings.
Highlights include two categories of the inaugural Hype Cycle for Agentic AI; three categories of the Emerging Tech Impact Radar: Agentic AI; the Beyond Agent Sprawl agent management platforms report; and the Expert AI Agents Reinvent Software and AI Vendor Race emerging-tech briefings.
LNS Research also named XMPro a Key Vendor for Agentic Operations in its Industrial AI Market Landscape — and XMPro’s CEO led the Digital Twin Consortium’s newly-published Industrial AI Agent Manifesto.
